The NB3 Foundation was proud to join Tamaya Wellness Center for the Multicultural Red Ribbon Relay, running alongside community members from across New Mexico in support of healthy, drug- and alcohol-free lifestyles.
After taking over the Zia Pueblo leg, our runners continued from the Tamaya Old Village entrance to the Spartan Learning Academy.
The relay means something different to everyone who participates. Unfortunately, many of our families and community members have been impacted by substance use. Some participants run in honor of someone they have lost. Some run for someone who is struggling or in recovery. Others have dealt with substance use in their own lives. Many run for future generations, with the hope that our young people can grow up healthy and free from drugs and alcohol.
For the NB3 Foundation, participating in the relay is a way to show our support and stand alongside communities and families.
An important part of the Multicultural Red Ribbon Relay is the batons carried by participating communities. Each baton represents a different culture or community and carries its own story and history. The batons travel with runners throughout the relay, connecting each community along the way.
The relay ends at Expo New Mexico at the start of the New Mexico State Fair, where runners from across the state come together to complete the journey.
We are grateful to run alongside Tamaya Wellness Center and so many community members who continue to show up for one another.
