On Sunday, September 7, three NB3 Foundation team members made the beautiful drive west through early morning fog until Haak’u, NM. Haak’u is the traditional name of Acoma Pueblo, one of the 19 Pueblos in New Mexico, also known as Sky City. The team was there to take on the annual Tour de Acoma, a 25, 50, or 100-mile bike ride through spectacular scenery on the Acoma reservation.
President and Chief Executive Officer, Jon Driskell started his 50-mile ride with a smile, ready to take on the challenging hill that lie ahead. New to the cycling world, Cyanne Lujan and Simone Duran decide to play it safe with the 25-mile ride which proved to be the right amount of challenging and fun for their first official cycling event. In addition to riding in the event, each participant committed to raising funds to support the NB3 Foundation’s mission and work for Native youth. The campaign “Miles for Native Youth” has raised $875 and is still accepting donations!
This event is just another example of how the NB3 Foundation staff or as they say NB3 Family is committed to leading by example. They “walk the talk” by staying active and healthy as a positive example to Native youth and communities that they serve.
