The Healthy Beverage Summit will bring community members together to engage in discussion around increasing water consumption and/or breastfeeding and reducing sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) consumption among Native American youth, families and communities.

Call for abstracts!

Abstract submissions are due April 29, 2026, with acceptance notifications sent by May 10, 2026. Selected presenters will lead their session twice on July 16, 2026, at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

We welcome abstracts related to healthy hydration, Indigenous knowledge, water sovereignty, community-led strategies, youth leadership, policy and systems change, and partnerships that support healthier beverage environments in Native communities.

Submissions may include community-based participatory research, program evaluations, case studies, storytelling approaches, and practice-based or community-led initiatives. Abstracts should be no more than 300 words and include background, approach or project description, key findings if applicable, implications for community health and equity, author information, and a preferred format of oral presentation, panel, or poster.

Submissions that center Indigenous leadership, community partnerships, and place-based knowledge are especially encouraged. Students, early-career professionals, and community practitioners are warmly invited to apply.

Selected presenters will receive free registration and a $150 honorarium per session. By submitting, presenters agree to deliver their 60-minute session twice. Sessions should be designed to be 70 percent interactive and 30 percent lecture style.
