#NB3FIT        #healthykidshealthyfutures

NB3FIT DAY  is a national day of inspiration, learning and physical movement to support the health and fitness of Native American youth. We call upon all tribes and Native communities to host activities that promote Native youth health and fitness on November 13, 2016.  NB3FIT Day is a national platform to engage tribes, organizations, businesses, communities, and families in promoting physical activity, nutrition and healthy-lifeways among Native youth

NB3FIT Day Goal:

Engage 10,000 Native American youth in physical activity for a minimum of one hour on one day throughout the country.

Join us in making NB3FIT DAY the largest national event to engage Native youth in physical activity!  TOGETHER, we will let our children know that we support and encourage their health and fitness journey. Register your youth event now. Click Here

It is up to us to ensure that our children grow up at a healthy weight, eat right and stay active. Unfortunately,  our children are facing an epidemic of obesity resulting in shortened, unfulfilled lives fighting health problems, such as type 2 diabetes. The good news…we can reverse this!

This event is about building awareness.  Five Facts to Consider:

  1. 81% of Native adults are overweight or obese and 45% of 2-5 year olds are overweight.
  2. 1 out of 2 Native children born since 2ooo will develop type 2 diabetes.
  3. Obesity is the leading contributing factor to type 2 diabetes.
  4. Type 2 diabetes may reduce a child’s life expectancy by 27 years.
  5. Death rate of Native Americans with diabetes is 3 times higher than the general U.S. population.

Groups/communities interested in participating in NB3FIT DAY, please complete the event registration form below.  The first 20 to register their event will receive up to 50 NB3FIT t-shirts and posters for their youth. For more information, call 505-867-0775.

NB3FIT Day is partnering with Generation Indigenous (Gen-I) to promote Youth-Led physical fitness and health activities. Together, NB3 Foundation and Gen-I want to encourage Native youth across the country to initiate and coordinate events and activities in their communities that promote physical activity on November 13th, 2016.

What better then to have Native youth leading Native youth to be healthy, active and fit! Together, we will reach NB3FIT DAY’s goal of engaging 10,000 Native youth throughout the country in physical activity for a minimum of one hour on one day.

Native youth, please register your event or activity by taking the NB3FIT Day Gen-I Youth Challenge!
